Ledger

  • Laravel
  • Inertia
  • Vue
  • MCP

Ledger is a personal finance tracker built around shared workspaces: a household, a side business, anything a few people keep books for together. Accounts, transactions, splits and transfers, budgets, goals and a review queue cover the day-to-day, with running balances stored rather than recalculated.

The part I'm proudest of is the MCP server. It lets an assistant like Claude answer "how much did we spend on groceries this month?" or record a transaction for you, with OAuth separating read from write access and every agent-written change stamped so it can be reviewed.

It's in active development, and I use it every day with real data. It doesn't have a final name yet.

Highlights

  • MCP server with 38 tools and interactive MCP App UIs: OAuth-scoped read/write access, idempotent writes so agent retries are safe.
  • Recurring-transaction detection that becomes scheduled transactions, plus per-account balance forecasts that flag low-balance dates.
  • Rules engine with preview, and CSV import with dry run, duplicate matching and one-click undo.
  • Net worth, cash flow (Sankey) and spending reports, with exact integer-cent money throughout.
  • Shared ledgers, with a test suite that checks every model, route and MCP tool for cross-ledger data isolation.
